The byline William Merriam Rouse (1884-1937) appeared on some 500 stories printed in popular U.S. publications, notably Munsey's Magazine, Argosy All-Story Weekly, Thrilling Adventures, Detective Fiction Weekly, etc. Here is a book about Rouse’s contribution. Included are five stories (including "Jules of the Strong Heart") which appeared in pulp magazines between 1915 and 1930; 27 previously unpublished stories; a bibliography of Rouse's publications.

Editor Miriam DuBois Babcock has included, as well, a memoir about this overlooked writer who entertained millions of readers with his stories set mainly in the Coon Mountain and Bildad Road area of the Adirondacks.
